Mount Meru is the fifth highest mountain peaks in Africa. Mount Meru is a dormant stratovolcano, it’s located 70 km west of Mount Kilimanjaro in the country of Tanzania. The highest is 4,562 meters above sea level (a.s.l). I t is visible from Mount Kilimanjaro on a clear day
Its located at Arusha National Park in the Arusha Region in Tanzania. The last eruption was from October to December 1910.
There is only one route used for hiking Mount Meru, why are we hiking Mount Meru? We hike Mount Meru to acclimatize to be ready to hike Mount Kilimanjaro, we use three or four days for this acclimatizing.

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, where you’ll be greeted by a Banziadventure representative and transferred to your hotel. After some rest, you’ll receive a comprehensive briefing about the hike, including gear usage, packing tips, and equipment checks.
Begin your hike from Momella Gate through the lush forest zone to Miriakamba Huts. Along the way, enjoy the diverse flora and fauna, including lily flowers, fig trees, warthogs, zebras, monkeys, and giraffes.
Continue your ascent to Saddle Huts, transitioning from the forest zone to the moorland zone. If you’re feeling strong, take an acclimatization hike to Little Meru Peak for additional altitude adjustment.
Start your summit attempt at midnight, navigating steep and challenging sections like Rhino Point and Cobra Point. Reach Socialist Peak by sunrise, then descend back to Saddle Huts for a short rest before continuing down to Miriakamba Huts.
Complete your descent to Momella Gate, enjoying the final views and reflecting on your adventure. Sign out at the gate, receive your Golden Certificate, and transfer back to your hotel for a well-deserved rest. The next day, you’ll be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport for your departure, marking the end of your unforgettable journey.
