The Lemosho route offers excellent acclimatization on Kilimanjaro, making it ideal for older climbers. It features stunning scenery, diverse wildlife, low traffic, and manageable daily distances. The trek takes 7-8 days, with 7 days being the minimum and 8 days recommended for older or special-case climbers.
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) or Arusha Airport, you will be greeted by a Banziadventure representative. You will be transferred to your pre-booked hotel where you can rest and freshen up. In the evening, you will receive a comprehensive briefing about the Kilimanjaro hike, including details about the Lemosho route, gear usage, packing tips, and a checklist for first aid and medical kits.
After breakfast, your guides will pick you up from the hotel and drive you to Londorosi Gate (2,100m a.s.l.). After processing permits, you will drive to the starting point of the Lemosho route. You will ascend through a beautiful forest zone, observing various flora and fauna, until you reach Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,750m a.s.l.).
Wake up to a morning call with a cup of coffee or tea. After washing and packing, enjoy breakfast and start hiking. You will hike to Shira I Camp (3,505m a.s.l.) for a hot lunch, then continue to Shira II Camp (3,850m a.s.l.).
This day is crucial for acclimatization. After breakfast, hike to Lava Tower (4,600m a.s.l.) and then descend to Barranco Camp (3,950m a.s.l.). This helps your body adjust to the altitude.
After a morning call and breakfast, climb the Barranco Wall (approx. 4,400m a.s.l.) and descend to Karanga Valley, then ascend to Karanga Camp.
Start your day with a morning call and breakfast. Ascend to Barafu Camp, where you will have lunch and receive a detailed briefing about the summit day. Focus on maintaining a positive mindset for the final ascent to Uhuru Peak.
Begin your summit attempt at midnight, reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895m a.s.l.) after 7-8 hours. After celebrating at the summit, descend to Mweka Camp (3,100m a.s.l.).
After breakfast, you will share your experiences with the team and offer tips to show your appreciation. Then, descend to Mweka Gate, where you will receive your Golden Certificate and be transferred back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha for a celebratory hot shower and drinks.
